The sign

He didn't say a word.

For a few months, two or three times a week, GumDrop Buffalo sat in Washington Square Park for three hours at a time with a sign: Tell me about your day.

He never answered. He just listened. Some people told him what they ate for lunch. Others told him about grief, addiction, and the things they were carrying that they hadn't said out loud to anyone.

None of it was filmed. The music is where he finally speaks.
